The NHL recently published an article about NY Rangers Goaltender Alexandar Georgiev’s playoff mask, which features a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Georgiev raised over $5,000 for charity by wearing and auctioning off the mask.

“I saw that there was quite a few unfortunate things happening to minorities in America, and I wanted to use my voice for good,” Georgiev said. “I felt like it was very fitting considering the events that minorities are facing right now – with racism still in society.”

There is a great video about the meaning behind the mask and its creation on the NHL’s Twitter and Instagram accounts.
