Vaughn Harper Computer Center
Vaughn Harper was a dedicated friend and supporter of the children and families of Harlem Dowling-West Side Center. For more than five years he hosted an annual Holiday Toy Drive for our children, enlisting friends and family to provide gifts to the more than 1200 children we served daily. In 2013, Vaughn helped organize a benefit concert for the agency where Alex Bugnon, Ben Tankard, and Regina Belle performed at MIST Harlem.
Vaughn wanted to impact the community at large by creating opportunities for children and families to have a safe haven to develop confidence, resilience, and academic excellence. The Home for Harlem Dowling, a 60 unit affordable housing building project in Central Harlem, provided such an opportunity.
In 2014, the idea for the Vaughn Harper Computer Center was proposed. Once again Vaughn called on friends and family to assist in this new initiative. The Home for Harlem Dowling project will be completed in September 2016. We look forward to the completion of the Center that will be available to the community in the evenings and on Saturdays. Assistance is still needed to ensure the computer center has the most current technology. If you wish to donate to the Vaughn Harper Computer Center, please click on the donate button now.
The Board of the Directors, the Staff, and the children and families we serve are grateful for Vaughn Harper’s kindness, commitment, and love. Our thoughts are with his wife and family.
